Crafting in a Winter Wonderland

Enjoying the snow but am wishing for warmer weather, soon.
This is one of the coldest winters we have had since we moved here - East Tennessee that is. So much cold weather and snow the last few weeks. The schools have been closed but the snow-covered hills are alive with children. They have not been to school in two weeks and have the rest of this week planned off because of the next round of snow starting.

We don't mind. We are a close family and keep very busy with projects. Surprisingly we have not experienced "cabin fever" yet even though we have only been out of the house twice in the last two weeks just to stock up on water and groceries. We have plenty of firewood and good food. This is a good time of year to bake and try new recipes. We have had a lot of yummy food lately :)

Pinterest has been a good resource for new foods to try. I will share my food board with those interested. My daughter has just started baking on her own and has done an awesome job! She mostly bakes and lately has made chocolate souffle by herself and they turned out delicious. I am so proud of her.

We have lots of projects going on too ( we always do!)
On the table, I have Fairy Arm Cuffs and Fairy, Gypsy Pocket Belts. My daughter has dog dresses and collars in the making. On another table, I have my wand station set up. I have some new designs in the making and will be introducing those soon!!

This week I have added new items to the shop. Magic Wand Pens, Magic Wand KeyChains, Dragon Eye Pendants, and Wishing Stones and Harry Potter Barefoot Sandals.
Yes! I said Barefoot Sandals. I wore them all summer and LOVE them! I know it's too cold to wear them here, now. But, it's not cold everywhere! AND it helps me feel warm thinking about the upcoming warm weather as I put another layer of blankets on ;)

I will be making posts to introduce you to each of the items that I mentioned above and the upcoming ones.

It's cold in my office and I need to go sit by the fire to warm up,
Stay Warm!

Thank you all for your support!

Start collecting your jars. You can use pickle, salsa, olive or any food jars that go thru your kitchen. Also some call for plastic jars and soda bottles. I love projects that reuse items that would normally go to the dump, although I try to reuse and recycle as much as i can.

Here is a quick way to clean your jars.
Soak them in warm soapy water- at least 10 minutes. Most of the labels will come right off but sometimes you have a difficult one with extra sticky glue. For those I use dish soap and a paring (flat blade) knife. After you have removed as much of the glue as you can put dish soap directly on the glue spot and scrape it off with the side of the paring knife. I can usually remove the glue after a few scrubbing times.

I have pinned loads of ideas and free printable labels

I had fun crafting these. I know you will too!

Pumpkin Crafts and Recipes

Thirty-One Days of Halloween
Day 3
Pumpkins

Happy 3rd day of Halloween!
Only 27 days left until Halloween.
Today the topic is PUMPKINS! They come in all shapes and sizes, are beautiful to decorate with and taste delicious :)

Have you ever had the privilege in growing a pumpkin? We have. One year, before we bought our Organic Blueberry Farm -Middle Creek Blueberry Farm, someone dear to us let us plant an acre of pumpkins and pop corn on their land. It was a great experience and is what got us to where we are now.
We grew pie pumpkins, carving pumpkins - great big ones and other squash (such as acorn, spaghetti and Hubbard).

We tended to those pumpkins and corn everyday after work. Watered, picked weeds and checked on them often. I think they grew so well because they could feel the LOVE :)
At harvest we carefully picked each one and loaded them into a truck (which ended up taking 3 or 4 trips)  to Grandma's house. She lived on a busy highway- a perfect place to display and sell the pumpkins. We decorated her yard with the pumpkins, corn fodder, hay/straw bales, squash and even made scarecrows. We also had a vegetable garden and made fresh salsa and had herbs for sale.
We sold every last pumpkin! Apparently we were the only ones around for miles that had any luck with pumpkins that year-it's the love I tell ya!

Since we moved here we have had a hard time growing pumpkins- we don't use pesticides and the bugs here are much more plentiful. So we purchase our pumpkins from other had working farmers. We got two already, thanks to Andy at the Kingsport farmer's market. One was a Cinderella type pumpkin(field pumpkin) and the other was a green warty apple gourd-makes me think of a witch.
